Automatic Shutdown via Shortcut Icon in Windows 7

Recently, we discuss about the command line Automatic Shutdown via Command Prompt in Windows 7, and we gain knowledge of its usages and how to use it.

Let’s take further details, let’s say a shortcut icon, by pressing it or by just one click, it will start to do a automatic shutdown.

Let’s create a shortcut icon for the automatic shutdown:

1. Using your mouse, right-click on the Desktop (Wallpaper) then hover to New and click Shortcut.

2. Then type: shutdown /s /t xx /f /c “message”  (where /s is shutdown, /t is for the time before it should be shutdown,  xx is the time – seconds, /f is the force shutdown all the applications, /c is for the message or simple comment).

For an example:
shutdown /s /f /t 120 /c “its time to shutdown your PC”
(Note:  -t (time) were 3600 is equals to 1 hour, 60 seconds equals to 1 minute)

3. Type a name for the shortcut icon. Let’s say: Auto-Shutdown. Click Finish afterwards.

4. To be more look like shutdown icon, you can change its icon appearance, right-click the shortcut icon, then hover to the Properties then click it.

5. Click the Change Icon. Browse an icon which more look like shutdown button, see the example screenshot below.

(Note: When you see this message, just ignore this one, just click OK.)

Click OK after you select an icon you would like. Then Click Apply.

6. Click Ok again. You will see the icon has been change to more look like shutdown button.
