Structure Built

The Sony Xperia L has the form factor of an arc/curve style (which reminds us the design of Xperia Arc – old design meets modern style). Exterior parts made in solid and sturdy type plastic, with a combination of silver metal type on the bezels. Speaking of bezels, the Xperia L’s wide bezels has its usage to user’s end – perhaps if the user requires more space to handle the phone then bezels does the job. The curved edge allows you to feel the entire phone itself, making it easy to grip on. The removable back cover is made of plastic matte finish (did we say it’s removable?), yep it’s removable so you can have an easy access to your SD card, SIM card and to the removable battery. Pocketable, comfort design and easy to handle/control for this device. Structure Built Rating: 8/10

The Front Part of Sony Xperia L

Unveiling the 4.3-inch TFT LCD 854 x 480 pixels capacitive touch screen, with scratch-resistant glass protection, with low pixel-per-inch ratio (~240ppi), and No bravia engine. Over the compromises, is due the price cost of the phone.

Sony Xperia L
From bottom part, on-screen navigation controls (Back, Menu, and Show Taskbars).

Brightness and contrast looks good. Expect hiccups on outdoor light conditions, which is not phone’s forte. Above everything else, Xperia L is worth to have considering the reasonable price. Disadvantage: Lower screen resolution. No Bravia Engine. Display Rating: 6/10

The Back Part of Sony Xperia L

Sony Xperia L

Covered with sturdy matte plastic (looks like a sparkling paint job finish), with 8.0-megapixel autofocus rear-facing camera with LED Flash and above of it is the secondary microphone with noise cancellation. Pop-up the back plate then you will see the standard SIM and the Micro SD slots.

CAMERA IN DETAILS: BACK TO TOP

Sony Xperia L is equipped with 8MP rear camera capable of producing 3248 x 2448 resolutions. Combine with Sony’s Exmor R for mobile image sensor for snappier performance and a good quality of photos. Other features HDR mode, Face detection, smile shutter, geotagging, touch capture and alike is the forte of this device. Dedicated camera button is present for an actual touch to capture the photo.

Sony Xperia L

As for any camera usages, it can be the source of draining your battery. The Xperia L’s camera has fine on details, with good white saturation, noise is quite fair. Blurry photos may hard to avoid it may be due to light/shade conditions. HDR feature could be a helping hand but far from flawless images.

Sony Xperia L in Details (Specs, Apps, Games, Features…) BACK TO TOP

Sony Xperia L is equipped with 1GHz Dual-core processor, Qualcomm MSM8230 Chipset, 1GB of RAM and Adreno 305 of GPU, which does the job as for mid-range smartphone. It can perform mid-tier games and selected high-end games. Expect to experience bottleneck on playing other high end games.

Sony Xperia L is also bundled with 8GB of internal storage (5.6GB on user storage), and can be expanded via microSD card slot up to 32GB. You cannot install games/apps directly to its microSD card, which will leads to your limited installed of apps.

On the Wi-Fi integrity, works well enough for the entire day or two (depends on the usage) within the 4.3-inch. In terms of web browsing experience, screen size makes the webpage viewing difficult, the promising thing you will have is the smooth transition between tabs and website area. You may also require to zoom in and out to get thru the website area. Other connectivity works well with no issues.

  1. nice specs and its sony xperia kaya its durable and well made, but the price can be difficult to market, kasi marami ng competitive local brands.

  2. very nice review, simple and straight at the point. although it’s 2013 mid-range smartphone, still this phone can up against current mid-range smartphones today.

  3. thanks for the brief info looking forward to your next review. before, i own xperia l and it was a great device, i dont mind about vga front facing camera, since im not into selfie thing. i am now happy with my new device xperia z. 😉

  4. once i have a xperia smartphone which is quite good i hope they can make smartphones with affordable price and has waterproof and dustproof kahit pang midtier lang.
