Additional Ubuntu Hardware Drivers to Activate Unknown Device such as Video/Graphic Card Drivers
by: Revengksky Joseph D. Reyes (a.k.a rjdreyes – jcyberinux.com)

(Note: In order to use this service, you must have an internet connection so that if your trying to install available updates, it will downloaded on your Ubuntu OS.)

You successfully installed Ubuntu on your current Computer, Notebook, Laptop or Netbook. But for some reason, if you try used features like Desktop Effects or Visual Effects on Apperance, it doesn’t enable or working.

This cause by unknown devices or unrecognized driver or the driver is not yet activated. All you need to do is to enable your Graphic Card Driver, you need to go on the Hardware Drivers for Unknown Device.

If you are using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS – by default it used GNOME GUI, go to System, then go to Administration then click Hardware Drivers(Additional Drivers – for Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10). See the pictures below.

Then select the recommended one, or if doesn’t work then try the other one. Then click Activate.

(Note: For Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 release – by default it used Unity GUI, if you’re graphic card driver detected by the said version or release, then you’re lucky :). But if the Ubuntu didn’t detect it, then you may may fall for using the old default GNOME GUI.)

And I think at Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 release – by default it used Unity GUI, just look at the side bar panel menu, (look at the ubuntu icon), then click it and then from there, search the following term “Additional Drivers” 😀 See the picture below.

There you have it, you now can proceed to installation of your Unknown Devices or Activating Unknown Devices. I think the procedure was same as the GNOME – Ubuntu 10.04 LTS or up. 😀
