How to Manual Update WordPress if Automatic Update fails
by: RJDREYES
(Note : By doing this, I expected you have an internet connection and your own webhost or webserver on your localhost)
You may encounter problems on automatic update on wordpress, which is frustrating and time consuming. There are several factors why does it happen (click here for some reasons regarding automatic updates).
If you already done your part on diagnostics while using Automatic Updates on WordPress, relax and chill down, there’s another way around using Manual Update.
* Check appropriate requirements for the update. (click here)
* Backup your WordPress database / Files / Data (Posts and Pages, etc…) – know how click here
* Login to your WordPress site, and then Deactivate all the plugins.
1. Download latest WordPress zip version (or tar.gz) file.
2. Unrar/Unzip the zip file.
3. Backup your WordPress database / Files / Data (Posts and Pages, etc…)
4. Login to your WordPress site, and then Deactivate all the plugins.
5. Delete the old wp-includes and wp-admin directories on your web host (via FTP or shell access).
6. Via FTP or shell access, upload the new wp-includes and wp-admin (the one you unzip earlier) directories to your web host (you may overwrite the files).
7. Upload individual files of new wp-content directory (the one you unzip earlier) to old/existing wp-content directory on your web host. (DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING, except overwrite the files.)
8. Upload remaining files from the root directory of the new version (the one you unzip earlier) to the old/existing WordPress root directory (on your web host).
9. If you encounter failed automatic upgrade, first, remove .maintenance file via FTP or shell access. This will clear any failed upgrade message.
10. Open your web browser and visit your WordPress website.
For example: http://mywebsite.com/wp-admin
It may direct you to http://mywebsite.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php (If the database is necessary for an upgrade for the compatibility of the new WordPress version). Follow the link and instructions.
11. Clear the cache of your web browser and website caching. This will clear any confusion arise when you visit your WordPress website.
Sooner or later you will see that your WordPress website is already updated, and ready to used (activate all of its plugins, read posts, add new post, etc…)
That’s it. Hopefully this helps you out 🙂

It’s pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all web owners

a lot more useful than ever before.
