Visual CD – Free Media and Disk Catalog Software
by: Revengsky Joseph D. Reyes (rjdreyes – jcyberinux.com)
Last time, I review a disk cataloging tool “Cathy” which is portable and fast on indexing and searching of folders and files.
And today, another Free Disk Cataloging Tool that I’m going to review, the Visual CD. Visual CD is a disk cataloging tool to index the contents of your media storage such as CDs, DVDs, HD-DVDs, BlueRay Discs, USB disks, hard disks, folders and allow you to search the contents later on.
Visual CD can index the files: by name, date, ID3 tag data, audio-video, picture information, generate thumbnail from picture and video files, and even catalog files which are contained in Zip/Cab/Rar/7-Zip archive files. It can also put password to protect your catalogs for security purposes.
The big difference between the Cathy and Visual CD as I observed is the interface. The Visual CD offers more Windows Explorer-like style and more user friendly interface and offers more features than Cathy. The Visual CD takes more time to catalog/index and to search the folders and files than to Cathy.
(Note: Visual CD Logo/Images/Pictures have a respective copyright. I used it for demonstration purpose only.)
