The Nova 2i has an all-metal unibody design, sleek and slim disdain from its nearly 6-inch screen (or precisely 83% screen-to-body ratio of the 5.9-inch FullView Display). It gives the device a felt like premium quality and quite manageable despite from its whopping size.

The Nova 2i features 5.9-inch IPS LCD display has a screen resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. The near bezel-less display at the front with a lean glass curving from its edges that makes the device stand out. The 18:9 aspect ratio does it wonders to make the screen wider although not all apps supported by it.

Like LG Q6, you can stretch it out to fit the entire screen there will be a prompted option in every launched of an app. The display performance was great and at nearly a top-notch quality in terms sharpness and color accuracy. Viewing angles are good and accurate at around 20-40% of AOV, the brightness and contrast are also good either multimedia or gaming experience. Thankfully, there is a setting for you to adjust the colors and contrast based on your taste.

To avoid eye strained, there is an eye comfort setting (or blue light filter) and colour temperature that can help relieve visual fatigue. You can also adjust the view mode and text size from small to large which depends on your liking and eyesight (don’t strain it, okay!).

The device carries 3340mAh battery were good enough for the long period of display. Set it to max level for outdoors (while you’re under the sun) or at minimal for indoor usage.

The Nova 2i has a customized Android 7.0 Nougat OS using its EMUI version 5.1 running out of the box. All newly installed apps cluttered around the home screen and you need to re-organize it. It is simple, pretty much stable and well optimized, fortunately, if you don’t like the idea of no app drawer, then you can enable the app drawer buried in the Home Screen Style. You can also adjust the app grids, on-screen navigational buttons, notification lights and customized themes for your personal liking.

The device also features the App Twin that allows you to use to two accounts with a certain apps (e.g. Having two SIM cards in your phone, you can have two messengers or chat apps like WhatsApp running for each number).


The Nova 2i is equipped with 2.36GHz Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659, Mali-T830 of GPU and 4GB of RAM. It has an excellent performance for daily tasks and can even play high-end games (like Asphalt 8, Kritika, Mobile Legends and NBA2K16) without any problems but far from exceptional experience. In the Antutu Benchmark, it has a decent performance score of 63,294.

The device is also bundled with 64GB of internal storage that’s a lot of room for apps you want to install and can be expanded via microSD card slot up to 256GB (via Hybrid Dual-SIM card slot – you need to sacrifice the SIM card for you to install the microSD card). The Dual-SIM phone supports 3G HSPA+ and 4G LTE seems working fine and quite fast while using it via video calls, web browsing or even downloading files. It also supported with USB-OTG functionality for file transfer and sharing.

Using the phone for voice calls are loud and clear and text messages were working fine as well as the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and other wireless connectivity works great without an issue.

The 16MP rear camera capable of producing at a maximum of 4608 x 3456 pixels in 4:3 aspect ratio of still photos. If you want a wider aspect ratio you can try 11MP via 18:9 aspect ratio. The 2MP sensor is a support camera for DOF (depth-of-field) and wide aperture mode.

In terms of photo/camera quality, it delivers good photos in an upright lightning condition with a decent details and colors. There is a hit and miss situation if you intend to use it on low light condition. The camera shutter doesn’t lag, and camera auto focus is good but far from the remarkable state.

The 13MP front-facing camera comes with LED soft flash for better lighting and radiant portraits. The 13MP sensor has a f/2.0 aperture while the 2MP sensor is a support camera for depth-of-field and bokeh effects for better selfies.

The device can do FHD (1920×1080) videos at max and there is a lot of video modes for you to discover such as time-lapse, slow-mo, light painting and among others.


In terms of battery life department, the Nova 2i is equipped with Li-Ion 3340 mAh battery pack. Expected to last for a full day of moderate to heavy usage, this involves social media apps, music, video and using mobile data via 4G connectivity. In the PCMark Battery Test, it is quite about above-average performance scoring 9 hours and 15 minutes, which is good considering the device has a huge display.

  3. meron pa bang bagong lalabas? mas maganda siguro yung 128GB na po, kasi mabilis mapuno yung 64GB hindi kasi dedicated yung microSD card slot nyan.

    1. mag bura bura din kase ng apps na hindi na need at matransfer ng photos and videos sa microsd or external usb flash drive kapag may time….

  4. so far maganda naman po yung camera at performance nya. wla akong masabi ingat lang dun sa bandang rear camera naka emboss kasi e.
