LG Q6 DESIGN:

The LG Q6 has a plastic build phone with a metal body from its sides – a strong 7000 series aluminum that boosts durability and felt like premium quality device.

LG Q6

Passed on Military-grade MIL-STD 810G, surely the Q6 can withstand accidental drops while leaving the phone intact. The front display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that’s another added protection to leave the phone unharmed. However, the back of the phone is enormously prone to scratches.

The Q6 is a mid-range device which means, it drops some (or more) features found on its mother – LG G6. If you experienced the flagship phone, you will miss the IP68 certified – the dust and water resistance and the fingerprint sensor. Although without the presence of fingerprint sensor/scanner, there is a face unlock for you able to unlock the phone. However, the face recognition might have some hiccups in the long run, this because of the following reasons: (1) Inaccurate and slow, (2) Less secure than PIN and password and (3) Having a hard time to unlock the device in low light condition.

The rounded corners of the body makes the phone stand out as it matches the display/screen of the phone. The phone looks bigger in terms of the aspect ratio of 18:9 on its display and a minimalist and sleek design as bezel-less form factor unlike any other 5.5-inch mid-range Smartphones which has wide bezels.

LG Q6LG Q6

The earpiece is located at the top along with the sensors and from the left side is the 5MP front-facing camera. The front-facing camera has a decent quality but not pleasant on low light condition. Below on it is the LG logo in the middle position.

LG Q6LG Q6

At top side of the phone you will see the microphone. The 3.5mm audio jack (left), micro-USB 2.0 port (middle) and another microphone (right) located at the bottom side of the device.

LG Q6

At the right side is the power button which you can used to turn off/on, put to sleep or restart the device.

LG Q6

While the volume keys and dedicated slots for microSD expansion and two Nano-SIM cards located at the left side.

LG Q6

At the back of the phone, you will see the 13MP camera along with the single LED flash on the top part, the Q6 logo and below on it is the speaker with small vents (the loudspeaker was great and loud even in audio/voice calls).

LG Q6 – DISPLAY, UI, APPS, AND FEATURES:

LG Q6

The LG Q6 features 5.5-inch FHD+ FullVision display has a screen resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. The display performance was great and at premium quality at its price range, viewing angles are good and accurate either multimedia or gaming experience. However, not all apps, games or even videos were supported by 18:9 aspect ratio, so you may see a black space or box from the sides of the screen. Social media apps like Facebook and Instagram works fine and also you might enjoy it as well in web browsing/viewing experience.

Thankfully, the device carries 3000mAh battery were good enough for the long period of display. You might set the brightness to max level when you’re out in the sun or at minimal (or 50 percent) for indoor usage.

The Q6 has a customized Android 7.1 Nougat OS using its LG UX UI running out of the box. The LG’s UX may not be a top of the line home screen/launcher – looking back at Huawei’s EMUI no app drawer thing, that all newly installed apps cluttered around the home screen and you need to re-organize it. But anyway, the UX pretty much stable and well optimized especially when learned how to use it.

[metaslider id=9648]

If you don’t like the idea of no app drawer, then you can enable Home & app drawer 4.0 buried in the Display Settings and Home screen option. From there, you will resurrect the app drawer felt like stock Android OS without installing the 3rd party home launchers. The LG UX also offers tons of customization options and themes for your personal liking.

[metaslider id=9720]

Good thing about the latest Android Nougat is the ability to split-screen and run two apps side by side. Although, not all apps were supported by it, still great way to have two apps running at the same time in a two-square box. The camera app has the similar approach to split-screen and it is called the Square mode. From there, you can take picture and preview it at the two working screens.

[metaslider id=9715]

Another addition to LG software is the App Scaling that enables you to adjust the screen size whether in compatibility, standard or full screen. If the application is capable to 18:9 aspect ratio (in full screen mode) then that would be lovely, however if not, then goes back to compatibility or standard mode.

LG Q6 – PERFORMANCE:

The one we have here is equipped with 1.4GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 (MSM8940), Adreno 505 of GPU and 3GB of RAM. It has an excellent performance for daily tasks like making calls, watching videos on Youtube, social media apps and the like.

However, if you are into gaming, don’t expect too much from it. It can run most of intensive games we can throw in, but far from smoothness – (that is if you compared it to other high-end devices like LG G6 or Samsung Galaxy S8). If you’re not worried about it, then the mid-tier performance will do just fine, considering the price point versus to LG G6 (which about a half).

The device is also bundled with 32GB of internal storage and can be expanded via microSD card slot. It also supported with USB-OTG functionality for file transfer and sharing. The Dual-SIM phone supports 3G HSPA+ and 4G LTE seems working fine while using it via video calls, web browsing or even downloading files. Using the phone for calls and text messages were working fine as well as the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and other wireless connectivity works great without an issue.

Heat may rise on a longer period of usage such as playing intensive games, web surfing or watching videos while mobile data is enable.

    1. sa speed po responsive naman, wala akong masabi. hindi naman ako gamer kaya i cant tell kung mabagal sya. pero for general used, okay sya.

  1. para sakin okay yung rear camera, i have steady hands naman. yung front camera depend talaga yung maganda yung liwanag (lightning condition).

  2. most of the phones naman parang copied on iphone design. but anyway, good review po still thinking to buy one.

  7. sakin kasi okay po yung camera wala akong masabi, fhd po yung max video resolution nya (front and back cameras). wala atang eis or ois kaya shaky sya kapag gumagalaw ka.

  8. i got the 64GB version, okay po sya so far meron syang dedicated slot para sa microsd. hindi need i-sacrifice yung sim card slot kaya naka dual sim ako plus pwede ko pa ilagay yung microsd.
