ALCATEL FLASH 2 DESIGN:
The Alcatel Flash 2 form factor has an arc shape from its top and bottom sides. It looks like an expensive or classy phone, but take a closer look at the outer shell of the smartphone. The silver and shiny frame is actually made in plastic (somewhat chrome type). The black front and sides are also in plastic material. The glass looks tough and it almost wraps around the sides of the phone.
The earpiece is located at the top along with the 5MP front-facing camera and the flash. The bottom part has a capacitive touchscreen buttons, the large green circle is the home button while the back and recent buttons were invisible until you touch the screen to light it up.
Around top part is the 3.5mm audio jack-in with the mic while the bottom part has the Micro-USB port and also with the microphone at the side of it.
The left side were completely empty, while the right side got all the controls such as the power, volume and the camera shutter button.
The back part has a rough and sandpaper finish in which, you’re going to hate or enjoy for. However, in a long period of usage, it felt uneasy though it has a great grip. It grabs dust and unwanted dirt on the back, it would be better if you used the flip leather cover bundled in the package.
The flip leather cover is a synthetic leather with a fake stitches, and has a small transparent window that you can used to interact on the touchscreen.
The 13MP rear camera has a metallic structure with a green ring around it and below of it, is the Dual LED flash. I guess that’s where the power of green comes from. The big Flash logo located in the middle and the small Alcatel Onetouch logo located in the bottom part.
The loudspeaker is located below the back cover, it has a decent sound quality and with minimal bass on it, though it is loud enough when you blast it off to the highest setting.
Beneath the back cover, the two Micro SIM slots, micro SD card slot (up to 128GB), and the Non-removable battery.
FLASH 2 – DISPLAY, UI, APPS, AND FEATURES:
The 5-inch HD IPS Display has a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels or simply @720p resolution. The display performance was good enough either multimedia or gaming experience but far from premium quality.
Since it has a HD display @294ppi, it consumes less power and battery juice last longer than FHD display. The viewing angles were good, contrast and sharpness were also good however, some color details were tone down. You might set the brightness to the highest level, when you’re out and under the sun.
LOW SCREEN BRIGHTNESS
MID SCREEN BRIGHTNESS
HIGH SCREEN BRIGHTNESS
The Flash 2 has stock Android 5.1 Lollipop OS running out of the box, fresher and good looking than Flash Plus UI (User Interface). There were minimal customizations you might encounter on the phone such as Audio Profiles (General, Silent, Meeting and Outdoor) and the Click Clear which is to terminate and free some RAM.
From the lockscreen there is a quick dialer (swipe it to the right to launch), unlock (in the middle, swipe it up to unlock the phone) and the camera (swipe it to the left to launch). The screen can be unlock whether password, pattern, pin or swipe (or depends on your security settings).
The homescreen were basically at stock UI, you can add shortcuts or widgets. You can add more panels to navigate and put shortcut apps as you wish. The drop down notification area still at Lollipop stock functionality.
The default system keyboard is the TouchPal which you might find lack of tuning or style. If that’s not work for you, you can switch it to Google Keyboard which is better feel on typing.
For multitasking, the Flash 2 still uses the Android 5.0 stock app/task manager, so you can view the recently opened apps and can even close them one by one.
FLASH 2 – PERFORMANCE:
The Flash 2 is equipped with 64-bit Octa-core processor (1.3 GHz) / MediaTek MT6753 chipset, 2GB of RAM and Mali-T720 MP3 of GPU. I won’t exaggerate much of the details but It has a firepower to deliver smooth and lagless experience between multitasking and gaming concern.
Choosing between Alcatel Flash Plus and Flash 2, put it simply a 5-inch with better cams with lite upgraded specs or Flash Plus with 5.5-inch Display. But in the long run, there aren’t much difference between the performance however the Flash 2 has a newer OS and much fresher look than Flash Plus minimalistic UI. The device is also bundled with 16GB of internal storage and can be expanded via microSD card slot up to 128GB. You can also choose the primary storage whether the internal storage or the SD card.
By selecting the SD card, you can install more apps and leave your internal storage more room to store. It also supported with USB-OTG functionality for file transfer and sharing.
The 3G HSPA+ and 4G LTE seems working fine while using it via web browsing or even downloading files. Using the phone for calls and text messages were working fine as well as the Dual SIM works flawlessly. Setting the mobile data usage and switching over one SIM to another is quite easy without an expertise needed and. Just take note that you can only use one 3G HSPA+/LTE connectivity or mobile data network at a time. The Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and other wireless connectivity works well with no issues so far.
Heat may rise on the upper back of the device while on using camera, gaming or web surfing (via mobile data or Wi-Fi) which is quite tolerable at hand.
FLASH 2 BENCHMARKS and OTHER DETAILS:
As expected in turns out to be mid-tier mobile device.

ALCATEL FLASH 2 CAMERA IN DETAILS:
The 13MP rear camera capable of producing 4160 x 3120 pixels in still photos, together with Samsung S5K3M2 ISOCELL Sensor and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) this is their entry for photography level smartphone.
The quality of the image was good on the phone, however loss its details when you zoom in to its max size. The colors/details went off and untidy, and the most noticeable of all is the horde of noise. You might skip the night shot as its goes badly even with HDR mode on. If your venture is night shot, better to use the Dual LED flash or a good lightning background.
SAMPLE PHOTO (via 13MP REAR CAMERA)
SAMPLE PHOTO (PANORAMA MODE)
The camera appas features HDR, Face beauty, PIP Mode, Super Fine, Track, Multi-Angle, Auto, Panorama, Live Photo and other controls/settings you might find that will suit your taste.
The device can do 1080p videos @ 30 fps, from what I see here, the colors/details were great on the phone. However, if you transfer it to your PC or Laptop, that’s a different story. As some of the details were off, noise on the shot were present, and sometimes the loss of focus might encounter during the video recording. If the focus went off, just tap the screen and it should fix right back but then again, it is not a permanent solution.
SAMPLE VIDEO CLIP
The 5MP front-facing camera does well in terms of performance, and the LED flash seems participating not to overthrown the details.
