How to Install and Use Free AntiVirus on Ubuntu

Note: In order to use this service, you must have an internet connection so that if your trying to install available updates, it will downloaded on your Ubuntu OS.)

You successfully installed Ubuntu on your current Computer, Notebook, Laptop or Netbook. For security reason, you need an AntiVirus, even before there is no issue upon on Linux/Ubuntu Distro on having a virus. But to make sure, there is a handy Free Antivirus you can count on.

(Note: For Ubuntu 10.04 and 11.04 GNOME/Unity look at the Synaptic Package Manager or Ubuntu Software Centre, find the term “Virus Scanner”, “ClamAV or KlamAV”.)

(Note: You may put the shortcut icon on the taskbar / sidebars, just drag the icon on the menu and put it on the taskbar or sidebars :D)

Unfortunately, at Ubuntu 11.10 Release, they dropped the usage of Synaptic Package Manager, in replaced for the Newly Improved Ubuntu Software Centre. So used the Ubuntu Software Centre, find the term “Virus Scanner”, “ClamAV or KlamAV”.

 

Here’s the Steps / Instructions on How to Install Virus Scanner and KlamAV using Ubuntu Software Centre(GNOME GUI).

1. Go to Application > then choose/click Ubuntu Software Centre, Find the term Virus Scanner, ClamAV or KlamAV.

2. Click Install. (Note: it will ask for a administration password, or your own account password, type it and press OK.) Then wait unitil installation is finish.

3. You can locate Virus Scanner, Go to Accessories then click Virus Scanner.

Or Klam AV, Go to System Tools > then click KlamAV.

4. Now you can setup and run antivirus to detect viruses, remember to keep it updated and be free on virus. (See the pictures below.)
