The Samsung Ativ S Review
Samsung ATIV S
With so many flagship phones for the Windows Phone 8 update, consumers will have a lot to choose from by the end of the year. The Ativ S is the first device from Samsung to be running the Windows Phone mobile operating system. With so much success surrounding their Android devices, from the Galaxy S3 to the Note, to the Galaxy Tab, it seems they are trying to monopolize on the growing popularity of Windows Phone. Let’s take a look at the Ativ S, and what it has to offer.

Power and Storage: Boasting a Dual-core Krait 1.5 Snapdragon processor, complimented by 1GB of RAM, the Ativ S promises to deliver a responsive and smooth user experience, whether you’re streaming movies, downloading music, multi-tasking or just browsing. Even gameplay is seamless thanks to it’s Adreno 225 GPU. Coming in both 16GB and 32GB models, with the option to expand to an additional 32GB via MicroSD, the Ativ S will have an abundance of storage. The generous Li-Ion 2300 mAh battery means hours upon hours of talk time.

Display and Hardware: Samsung devices are known for their incredibly crisp and vibrant displays, and the Ativ S will follow suit. With an identical screen to the Galaxy S3, the Ativ S has a large 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display, which makes everything from navigating menus to watching movies a visually appealing experience. There is a rear-facing 8MP camera capable of capturing high definition 1080p video, and a front-facing 1.9MP camera that is ideal for video calling and chat, and even a stereo FM radio. When it comes to connectivity, the Ativ S has it all, from the basics: 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, along with some other added bonuses including an NFC chip (which means convenient and secure mobile payments).

Operating System: With the latest update from the operating system, Microsoft expects to attract a even larger consumer audience, building on the popularity it’s gained from raving user reviews. Windows Phone 8 has been dubbed the single most customizable and intuitive mobile operating system, which might be surprising news for Android users. With it’s “Live Tile” icon system, important and detailed information is available at a glance. Rather than showing the user the number of unread messages, Live Tiles show snippets, the latest status updates, upcoming calendar events and more.
