I remember my teenage years, when I was in high school before becoming a college freshman entry,(I think it was the year 2000). My first computer was a Pentium I with 100 mhz, with Windows 95 as the Operating System and MS Office 95 as my Office Suite. I was suprise how convenient to do the task on word processor, going to spreadsheet and to the presentation. I also remember the DOS versions like Lotus and Text editor on DOS.

I came to my senses that, this modern computing devices, turns world into fast pace productivity on delivering our write-ups, documentations, or presentations that easily been package into one software. (I realized, I become a part of the changes as well). I remember before, there was a typewriter. Usually you need a plain paper, put it in the scroll and feed it up. Then you can type between red and black colors.(I think there are other colors). The only font is like a Times New Roman which you cannot change it, it’s a default font.

If you needed to type, first you need to setup the margins (which is complicated), plus the spacing and lines. If you commit mistake on your typing, you need a correction pen to erase the mistaken words or letters, let it up dry and start typing. (Makes you wonder how hard to save your mistype words and grammars).

But those days is over, taking over by the todays, modern computing devices, such as laptop, notebooks, netbooks, handheld devices and PC, with modern office suite such as OpenOffice.org. A free open source software, available on Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

You can save your documentation, very convenient and easy, easy to adjust paper size and margins for printing purposes. You can carry to software itself, as much as 155MB of the USB thumb-drive space, and also carry your documents, spreadsheets and presentation whenever you go. Spell checker and grammar correction tools, plus unlimited fonts (depends on the installed fonts in your OS).

The best thing about the OpenOffice.org office software suite, is that the compact and size of it’s software, 155MB compared to the good Microsoft Office Suite (MS Office is good, but you will get it when you used OpenOffice.org), you don’t need to much application, with just simple office software suite perfect for any varied computer system. Versatile because it supports additional saving method like, for instance, you would like to save it as Microsoft Word Document (.doc), you can do it at OpenOffice.org Writer.

I think you need to try it for yourself, to see is to believe right? 🙂

I believe OpenOffice.org, one of the best, 100% FREE, Office Suite it is.
