Google’s modular Smartphone – Project Ara, a history in a making for a possibility to have a DIY Smartphone right in your very own hands.
It is said that the Project Ara aims to develop modular Smartphone that enables you to put certain modules or blocks of your choice (the way how your phone does, and how you wanted it).
You can put what specs do you want or an upgrade for certain specs (such as camera, processor, RAM, internal storage, battery and the display screen). You can say it just like a Lego blocks that you can swap it over to a new block. Pretty cool huh?
The structural body has a frame that holds the Smartphone’s modules whenever you need to place the block/modules. To make the modules more secure and holds firmly in the frame, it has electro permanent magnets on attaching its modules. This means you don’t covers to prevent the modules from falling apart.
The enclosures of the modules can be 3D-printed for personalization, so the customers can design and change it whenever they want to.
So in the future this means, it is possible to replace each part without buying a whole new Smartphone? Yes it is possible, just imagine, you don’t need to buy another Android Smartphone, all you need to do is the upgrade certain specs, swap it into the module and your good to go.
