(QUESTION): Deletion of files from C:\Windows\Installer directory, is it safe or not?
(ANSWER): NO. You want more space then used DISK CLEANUP!
by: RJDREYES

I encountered this situation; My WINDOWS Directory almost at 20 GB, which is I think, not really normal. So I investigate and find out that the Installer folder almost at 5GB. As I browse inside the folder, I think this is where the Windows dumps up registered/installed application and left over application installer.

Seriously, I do believe that Microsoft put a better explanation or way on how should to deal with this. So I made a quick research on this, I find out that these files are essential for the Windows System, in which, if you try to update/upgrade/uninstall any application, it will then need certain installer file.

So I guess, I have to leave it alone, and nothing to do with it and just keep it growing then. Hmm… So what happens next if my hard drive free space capacity goes down zero. It bothers me, because I got only 30 GB at my system, I wonder if there’s any quick solution to this.

If you want more space there is only one solution: Using DISK CLEANUP where this application came? Of course from their OS package. Disk Cleanup can delete temporary files, downloaded program files, and other files aren’t needed.

Browse on Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools > Open disk cleanup (From here, select a drive to cleanup)

If you still lacking up disk space, then you have an option to delete some programs/application you aren’t using. Or delete some system restore points that you have created.

So this leaves me to unsolved problem (still at temporary fix)… Anyway, if you folks have something to say or to add up any solution, you may comment or give suggestions. 🙂 This will be a reference for me and other readers! Kudos to us guys, I hope Microsoft can make a better solution on handling the Installer files and not only for sake of security, or for other reasons (whatever that is) but also for the sake of end users.
