How to Import, Export, and Send Phone contacts (*.vcf) file via Android Devices

(Note: I’m using Sony Xperia Smartphone, the results may vary on other Android Devices.)

One of my friends asks: How to backup, import and send phone contacts on Android device?

Here are the steps/instructions to achieve this, again I am using Sony Xperia Android Smartphone, but this guide my help you to achieve the same results.

To back up / export contacts using a memory card / Internal Storage / SIM card:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screens icon. Find and tap Contacts.

Or in your home screen view, you may find the Contacts resides below the screen.

2. From the Contacts view, Press the Menu key, then tap Back up contacts / Export Contacts .

3. Choose from Back up or Export to: Memory card, Internal Storage, SIM card.

4. It will ask for confirmation to export the contacts (it will also show the detail location of the back up contacts). Tap OK to continue to export the contacts.

To import contacts using a memory card / Internal Storage / SIM card:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screens icon. Find and tap Contacts.

Or in your home screen view, you may find the Contacts reside below the screen.

2. From the Contacts view, Press the Menu key, then tap Import Contacts.

3. Choose Import from: Memory card, Internal Storage, SIM card.

4. It will ask you where to create contacts: via Phone contact or gmail account.

5. If you have lots of back up contacts (select from the list you want to import). Tap OK to continue import the contacts.

To send contacts via Bluetooth™ technology, email or text message:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screens icon. Find and tap Contacts.

Or in your home screen view, you may find the Contacts resides below the screen.

2. From the Contacts view, Press the Menu key, then tap Send Contacts.

3. Mark/Check from the list of Phone contact you will going to send or share. Aftewards, Tap Send.

Then on Confirm Send. Tap OK.

5. From the Send contacts via lists, Tap the application you want to use to share/send. The selected application opens with the vCard file attached.

  1. nicely done.. thanks for the info. in between this can approach can be used in all smartphones sometimes differs on some options.
