DELL LATITUDE C600/C500
by: Revengsky Joseph D. Reyes (a.k.a rjdreyes)
My boss just gave me an old laptop Dell Latitude C600/C500, a Pentium III 1GHz, 512 SDRAM Memory, 80 GB HDD (I’ll give the technical specs later), but the problem is, there is no power adapter included. Anyways, to be sure it’s working, I go to the nearest store and talk to the computer technician, if they have a power adpater on Dell Latitude C600/C500.
Luckily, they have and we tested it, try to boot-up by power on and suprisingly, it still working, a quick boot up on the Windows XP!. I’m very glad it workout, and I bought the power laptop adapter for the price of (1,200 Philippine Pesos), but its alright for me (It’s brand new, no need to complain the price).
After I bought it, I managed to make a clean installation, using my old and unused Windows XP. I insert the disc, change the boot priority to dvdrom on bios, then make partition, then format and install Windows XP on the formatted partition drive (Why I did partition, because i’m going to install Ubuntu Linux on the other partition). After the installation, I download the latest Windows XP Service Pack 3 to update the Service Pack. I install other drivers needed, but all necessary drivers like sound, mic, video, mousepad and keyboard are automatically detected.
